Help is on the way for around 500 people displaced from the Yale Park Apartments last week.

After city officials forced all tenants to evacuate the complex because of a bed bug infestation and dangerous electrical wiring amongst other issues, Omaha Public Schools and many other organizations did what they could to help.

The OPS foundation announced Sunday evening it had exceeded its $40,000 goal and as of 6:30 a.m. Monday, more than $46,000 has been raised.

OPS estimates around 200 children that lived in Yale Park are students in the district.
